Maytag vs Whirlpool Washer

Сhoosing the Right Model

Is there a formula one can follow to get the perfect washer? It can be a daunting task when trying to solve the question of Maytag vs Whirlpool washer. They often look alike when it comes to the features, the speed of the spin, the wash cycle, and even the amount of steam they use.

In this article, we want to look at the two rivals to help you have an easy time when choosing your preferred brand and model.

Maytag and Whirlpool Washers: Similarities

The Maytag and Whirlpool units have a similar capacity with 7.4 cubic feet in the dryer and 5.2 cubic fits in the washer. They are both recommended for busy families or large loads due to their huge capacity.

Both brands built models with a direct drive motor mechanism that provides the user with the best performance. Another thing about these models is their vibration that allows you to place the washers anywhere in your home.

So do they have any difference?

Maytag and Whirlpool Washers: Differences

Why should you buy a Maytag model and not a Whirlpool model and vice versa?

One major difference between these brands is the price. The Whirlpool washers usually cost about $300 less than Maytag washers when they are matched with the dryers. Hence, if you get two models, one from Whirlpool and the other from Maytag, and they have the same features, buy the Whirlpool model since it will be cheaper.

But that is not always true when buying any product. Here are a few reasons why you might consider buying the Maytag model and cough out those extra dollars:

Maytag models come with a longer warranty than the Whirlpool models. For instance, their drum and direct drive motor come with a 10 years warranty compared to the whirlpool that covers 12 months.

Maytag models come with an internal water heater that allows for better wash results due to extended cycles.

Another thing, Maytag models offer steam in the dryer and washer. Steam can be useful since it acts as a disinfector and you can use it to get better results when removing stains.

Most people’s favorite difference between Maytag and Whirlpool is the Fresh Hold that Maytag provides.

Both sets of washers will effectively clean. However, if you want a product that will last longer, go for Maytag, and if you want a model that is cheaper, go for Whirlpool.

The Bottom Line

As seen in the article, Maytag washers are designed to be reliable, durable, and ready to deal with all tough stains on your laundry. In fact, when you get a washer from Maytag, you can rest assured that you have purchased power, dependability, and performance that you can count on.

On the other hand, Whirlpool washers are made to cater to the budget-conscious buyer. They are not only affordable but also very effective in washing your laundry. You can depend on these models to get your job done the right way the first time.

  1. We bought a Kenmore DW 2 years ago shortly after warranty was over we had to have 4 rubber (?) replaced on the inside of each side. Cost $200+, now the mother board is bad, according to repairman. Price $230. In 2 years $430 of repairs. Kenmore is a cheap appliance. 1 to 10 rating? 1

  2. Whirlpool and Maytag are both made by Whirlpool corporation in Whirlpool factories. Whirlpool bought out Maytag several years ago and closed all of the US based washer and dryer factories.
